Sino-German Seminar on Juvenile Justice and Penalty for Juvenile Offenders Was Held

On the morning of November 26, 2016, the Second Sino-German Seminar on Criminal Law and Criminology and the Seminar on “Juvenile Justice and Penalty for Juvenile Offenders” was held in Conference Room 3 at CYUPS. The seminar was jointly organized by CYUPS School of Law, Chinesisch-Deutsches Institut für Rechtswissenschaft, China University of Political Science and Law and Hanns Seidel Stiftung of Germany, and was hosted by CYUPS School of Law and Institute of Juvenile Law.

More than a hundred people attended the seminar, of whom there were experts and scholars from institutes of higher education and institutes of scientific researches including Hanns Seidel Stiftung, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Universitaet Passau, Philipps-Universitat Marburg, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Renmin University Of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Beijing Normal University, East China University of Political Science and Law, Wuhan University, Northwest University of Political Science and Law and CYUPS, responsible officials of the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate and other relevant judicial departments, journalists from media such as People’s Court Daily and China News Service, and student representatives.

At the opening ceremony, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee and CYUPS Executive Vice-president, Professor Wang Xinqing, Honorary President of the Procedural Law Institute of China Law Society and CUPL Emeritus Professor Chen Guangzhong, and Hanns Seidel Stiftung Beijing Office Director Mr. Liu Xiaoxiong respectively delivered a speech.

At the closing ceremony, Mr. Liu Xiaoxiong and Mr. Wu Yong respectively delivered a speech, in which they affirmed the abundant and fruitful results of this productive meeting in spite of the tight schedule. In his speech, Mr. Wu Yong also expressed his expectations for the Sino-German Seminar on Criminal Law and Criminology to take deep root in CYUPS.
