China Youth University for Political Sciences (CYUPS) started adult education in the 1980s. In 1985, CYUPS established an evening college. In 1988, a correspondence college was established and in 1990, the training center of CYUPS was set up. In 2001, the School of Continuous Education was established, which is in overall charge of the continuous education of the University, adult higher education and non-diploma social training.
Relying on the existing conditions of the University and the advantage of educational resources of Beijing, the University has established a multi-type, multi-level, multi-form and multi-channel educational system.
Currently, the diploma education of the School is carried out at three levels: high-school-based junior education, junior-education-based undergraduate education, and high-school-based undergraduate education. The School offers over 20 programs that include law and social work, and correspondence schools have been set up in Macau, Yunnan, Inner Mongolia, Anhui, Heilongjiang, Henan and Xinjiang. As of the end of 2011, the School has produced nearly 20,000 junior college graduates and undergraduates, making great contributions to the social and economic development of Beijing and areas covered by the correspondence schools.
With regard to non-diploma education, the School offers various types of training for party and government cadres, person-in-charge of enterprises and public institutions, and technical professionals. In terms of content and style, the training shall be purposeful, practical and innovative. Since 2007, in cooperation with Administration Bureau for Organs Directly under the Authority of the CPC Central Committee, China Courier Service Cooperation Inc. and the various departments of Chongqing, Henan and Hebei government, the training center has held over 70 training classes, producing over 11,000 graduates.
