Department of Foreign Languages (DFL) has a teaching staff of 32, among whom 13 are professors and associate professors, 14 lecturers, 3 teaching assistants and 2 administrative staff. The teachers are mostly graduated from the key universities of China, with an educational background of master or above. Besides, DFL has several international experts working in the department all the year around and invites well-known scholars to deliver lectures at the University.

Currently, DFL is in charge of the English teaching of the English-major students and all the students of non-English major of the University. In recently years, with enhancement of the student-centered approach and application of multimedia in teaching, we have made remarkable achievements and won wide acclaim in the society. The percentage of students passing TEM-4 and TEM-8 is among the highest in the country and the percentage of students passing CET-4 once for all is much higher than the average of the key universities of China. Besides, students of our department have also made excellent achievements in major language contests such as National English Contest for College Students and “CCTV Cup” National English Speech Contest. Due to outstanding achievements in teaching, DFL has been awarded for numerous times “Principal Incentive Fund”. Moreover, the course “College English” is rated as one of the first batch of excellent courses of the University and two teachers are winners of the title of “Outstanding Teacher" of Beijing Municipality.

Having an advanced speech lab and a large collection of foreign language audio and video materials and books, our department provides the students of English major with a sound learning environment. The English teachers, with their remarkable language skills, rich experience of teaching and a high capacity of scientific research, can offer the students a high-quality learning experience.
