School of Law (formerly known as Department of Law) was established in 1993 and the undergraduate program of law has been included in the Demonstration Majors of Beijing Municipality and the fourth group of demonstration majors of the Ministry of Education. In 2012, the University was listed as the Institutions of Excellent Law Talents. Currently, CYU School of Law offers undergraduate programs as well as graduate programs of laws (criminal law, economic law, civil and commercial law, procedural law and international law) and has the right to confer the degree of Master of Laws. The School has 45 full-time teachers, among whom there are 9 professors, 23 associate professors, 33 doctors (including 7 postdoctoral researchers), 1 doctoral supervisor and 25 master supervisors. There are about 20 teachers having educational experience as visiting scholars or full-time students at world-renowned institutions of higher education such as University of Cambridge, Waseda University and Leiden University. Nearly 30 teachers serve as director or executive director of almost all research societies under China Law Society such as Chinese Constitution Research Society, Criminal Law Research Society and Criminal Procedure Research Society. Besides, many teachers have been hired as the guest research or part-time researcher at renowned institutions of higher education like Peking University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law and Tsinghua University.

 

In 2008, the program of laws was honored as the Demonstration Major of Beijing Municipality and in 2009, it is included in the fourth group of Demonstration Majors of the Ministry of Education. In 2012, the department’s discipline of law is selected into the Construction Project of National College Student Off-Campus Practical Education Base of the Ministry of Education. Currently, the Department of Law delivers one Excellent Course of Beijing Municipality and has one Excellent Teaching Team of Beijing Municipality. Since 2005, teachers of the department have published over 30 monographs as well as 130 articles in core journals such as China Legal Science and Law Studies. In 2013, it was renamed as School of Las with approval of All-China Youth Federation.

 

The School has produced over 2,000 undergraduates and postgraduates, who are now employed by government organs that include the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Supreme People's Court, Supreme People's Procuratorate, Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Commerce. The graduates are favorably reviewed for their diligence, remarkable practical abilities and solid theoretical basis. Among the graduates of the department, there are two National Top-Ten Prosecutors, one National Top-Ten Reconnaissance Expert, four Top-Ten Prosecutors of Beijing Municipality and one Arrest Expert of Beijing Municipality. Many graduates hold teaching posts in well-renowned legal colleges and institutions like Tsinghua University, China University of Political Science and Law, Central University of Finance and Economics, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Singapore Management University and many are working overseas countries such as Britain.
